8 tips for nurturing that pregnancy glow
Ah, the legendary "pregnancy glow" - that magical radiance everyone keeps talking about! While some mums-to-be do get that lit-from-within luminosity (thanks, hormones and increased blood flow!) sometimes the only glow you're sporting is from running up the stairs or making your third bathroom trip of the morning.
The truth is pregnancy looks different on everyone - some days you feel more "glow" and others more "oh no." With that in our mind, here's your guide to helping you feel your best during these precious months – glow or no glow!
1. Stay hydrated, inside and out
Water isn't just essential for your growing baby – it's your skin's best friend too. Aim for 8-10 glasses daily and consider keeping a water bottle as your constant companion. Your skin will thank you with that coveted pregnancy glow.
2. Mindful movement
Exercise during pregnancy doesn't mean training for a marathon. Gentle yoga, swimming or a peaceful walk can boost circulation, reduce swelling, and release those feel-good endorphins. Listen to your body and move in ways that feel good.
3. Create your bath time sanctuary
Transform your bathroom into a peaceful retreat. Run a comfortably warm bath (not too hot!), dim the lights, and treat yourself to our pregnancy-safe shower and bath gel. The calming blend of frankincense, bergamot, and vanilla creates a moment of pure bliss. Plus, the natural ingredients are gentle on your changing skin – perfect for some much-needed me-time.
4. Nourish from within
Your pregnancy cravings might be saying "chocolate cake," but try to include skin-loving foods too. Berries, avocados, nuts, and leafy greens provide essential nutrients that support both you and your baby's needs.
5. Get your beauty sleep
Easier said than done with a growing bump, we know! Try sleeping on your left side with pillows supporting your bump and between your knees. This position improves blood flow and can help reduce puffiness in your face.
6. Enjoy a gentle facial massage
Take a few minutes each day to massage your face with pregnancy-safe oils. This boosts circulation, reduces tension, and gives you a moment to connect with yourself. Plus, it feels amazing!
7. Practice mindfulness
Stress can affect your skin and overall wellbeing. Try pregnancy-safe meditation, deep breathing exercises, or simply taking five minutes to sit quietly and connect with your baby.
8. Stay connected
Join pregnancy groups, use apps like Peanut, talk to other mums or share your journey with loved ones. Having a support system can help you maintain a positive mindset, which often reflects in your appearance. Plus, they have may have some great self-care tips you've not thought of!
Remember, every pregnancy journey is unique. Some days you'll radiate that magical pregnancy glow, and others you might just need to put your feet up and rest. Both are perfectly okay! The most important thing is taking care of yourself in ways that feel right for you.
